I also think that this points out the limited power of non-Artistic and Managing Directors There’s a lot of pressure placed on artists to fix X problem with American Theater, and if it’s not placed on them, it’s placed on Lit Departments. But the buck really does stop somewhere, and that’s with the Artistic and Managing Directors. And I would like as we move forward for people to stop complaining about literary managers, or board members or the development director and put the blame squarely where it belongs. If Artistic and Managing Directors want to change their practices, they will change. These are not democratic institutions we’re talking about here, but think of them as if they are.
